The future of digital and social media is now!

The PP team has been multi-tasking this week, as we attended the 2011 iStrategy Global Digital Media Conference at the MCG.
We had been looking forward to this event as it brings industry experts and innovative marketers together to discuss the latest digital media trends - this of course, transcending into our client campaigns.
The international two-day conference incorporated keynote speakers from some powerhouse digital brands such as Dell, Lonely Planet, Microsoft, Facebook, LinkedIn and Google, as well as some of the most switched on digital and social media marketers from LA and Europe.
While we learnt some new phrases like 'the circle of shiny' and 'the 57 signals of personalisation', mostly we learnt that everything we thought we knew about social media was right... for now!
Of course new technologies are being developed at the speed of light and the future of social media is now, tomorrow, and next week. So at Press Play we will continue to keep our finger on the pulse (or #trends) so we can use all of the best new tools as soon as they're available in Australia.
** sidenote - #iStrategy was the highest trending # on Twitter in Australia for the whole two days it was run... check it out if you're on Twitter!
We were also reassured to know that even those 'Social Media Specialists' who spend all their time in the online world recommend that social media must be a joint venture with other brand communications including offline activity, not practised alone.
Please let us know if you'd like to chat about anything we learned over the last few days and how it could be integrated into your existing communications activity (there's certainly no shortage of coffee 'hot spots' around the new PP HQ)!
